Presales Tech Consultant - EDB

Role Overview

This role requires regular interaction with customers, prospects, and partners to lead technical discussions that support regional sales growth. You will provide technical expertise around EDB solutions, guide customers through complex database challenges, and collaborate with internal teams to drive successful business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Interact regularly with customers, prospects, and partners to support sales initiatives.
  • Engage with existing customers and business partners to solve business problems using EDB solutions.
  • Help grow subscription and professional services business opportunities.

2. Sales & Technical Support

  • Provide subject matter expertise to help achieve planned sales targets.
  • Support key and strategic sales motions from a technical perspective.
  • Act as a trusted advisor during technical evaluations and customer discussions.

3. Solution Design & Professional Services Coordination

  • Work with EDB Professional Services to build Statements of Work for deployments.
  • Coordinate service deliverables between solution architects, delivery teams, and customers.
  • Assist customers and partners in planning deployments and implementation success.

4. Training & Enablement

  • Assist clients and partners in creating training and enablement plans.
  • Provide a single point of technical contact for partner engagements.
  • Liaise with local EDB Sales Engineers to deliver required technical support.

5. Product Guidance & Competitive Intelligence

  • Guide customers on EDB product usage, architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Share customer feedback and competitive insights with product management teams.
  • Provide recommendations that improve product adoption and market competitiveness.

6. Technical Demonstrations & Proof of Concepts

  • Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Lead Proof of Concepts from requirements gathering to successful execution.
  • Ensure customer objectives and success criteria are met through structured planning.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in the database industry.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, EDB Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to identify broader platform and data pain points.
  • Experience with SQL tuning, query optimization, debugging, and database administration.
  • Basic to intermediate Linux system administration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of High Availability, scalability, upgrades, patching, security, and performance.
  • Ability to engage CXO-level stakeholders and influence strategic database decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills across customers, partners, and remote technical teams.
  • Willingness to travel and engage with customers, partners, and system integrators.

What Will Give You an Edge

Cloud Skills

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware Cloud, OpenStack.
  • Knowledge of private, public, and hybrid cloud database environments.
  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and microservices.

Programming Skills

  • Ability to write SQL, PL/SQL, or PL/pgSQL scripts.
  • Knowledge of Bash shell scripting or Python automation.

Technical Content Development

  • Create solution collateral and technical responses for RFPs.
  • Coordinate professional services documentation and project deliverables.
